Premji Occupational Therapy And Rehabilitation Center situated at Bangalore, Green city of Karnataka, India had its beginning on 23rd April 2007, stepped in with the ultimate aim of serving the children to reach their optimal level of independent functioning at school / home / play / job & the community. Premjiot is the first occupational therapy center recognised by Karnataka government.
Services are rendered heartedly with two experienced Occupational Therapist, for about 15 years of active involvement in the field of O.T. The paediatric set up at Premji Occupational Therapy Center is rich in space, equipments and the Knowledge of two working in coordination. Autism or cerebral palsy or Down’s syndrome or global developmental delay, the child keeps progressing and so the parents are more motivated.
The year 2002 gave her a golden opportunity to work with the Head of the Psychiatry department, Dr.Kuruvilla, P.S.G hospital, Coimbatore who did his studies along with the Dr.Beck, who found the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She was selected as the head of Psychiatric Occupational therapy department for her qualities of independence and ability . Her knowledge in Occupational Behavior Approach , therapeutic activity , selection criteria and right gradation gained her applauses from the crew.
Sumithra Engersoll focused in the field of paediatrics, when she settled at Bangalore in 2004. She was unique when she worked with the team comprising of speech therapist and special educator. Sumithra Engersoll doing an excellent job, made the team realize the vital role of Occupational Therapy in children with Autism and the spectrum.
Sumithra with confidence on her knowledge and dedication to the field of O.T, joined Premji Occuptional Therapy and Rehabilitation Center in the year 2007, started providing services to the clients affected by autism, attention deficit and hyperactivity, mental retardation, learning disability, global developmental delay, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome , other physical and mental disabilities. She takes the responsibilities of doing assessment, counseling and therapy. In addition Sumithra has done lots of presentation to the larger groups. She stress more on the relation between play and sensory processing. Her priority was clients rather than the family and the self health. Only motto was progress, upliftment of client and the parents life. Her goal is to serve the clients and help them achieve the possible independence in their day to day living.
Sumithra is unique with hand full of expertise in providing infant stimulation program(0-2yrs) and early intervention program (0 – 4 years) for high risk infants and other conditions with difficulty in sensory processing and achieving milestones.It is amazing quality of Sumithra in making the babies cooperate for the therapy with lots of laughter and making them to communicate .
In the year 2007, Engersoll co founded the premji occupational therapy center with the confidence of rendering only the right and best therapy. He was the mastermind to innovate the idea of evidence based and transparent therapy to the clients.
He has a updated knowledge in occupational therapy conditions and improvements. He is a expert in analazing behaviours and psychology of the children. He is a social thinker and believes more on organic products. He has organised many social welfare and awareness programs. Engersoll designs the overall functioning of the center and aims at upliftment of quality services. He is also a part of planning and implementation of the therapy programs. He involves in designing occupational therapy materials & equipments.
